We lost players for mutiple reasons, it's discussed a lot at forums.First of all, it seems like a lot of players quit Galcon in the first hour of playing, over 60% of all players played less than 1 hour. Many of them maybe don't like the gameplay in general, it's not their kind of game etc. But the biggest problem is that they don't understand the game. There is one small tutorial, some players even skip that 3-step-tutorial, start playing and fail horribly. 'The Dojo' bettered things a bit, but Dojo came out like 5 +- months after the steam release, Galcon already had disappeared of the 'free games on steam' charts. Furthermore, there is no rank restriction for other sectors. I met completely new players playing Eliminator or Teams (Teams is super hard if you're new, it's the most insultive sector), failing and getting ♥♥♥♥♥♥ off.The overall menu is expecially for newer players not that intuitive, I mean everybody quickly understands how to play but the design is more like of an older game, you can't queue into games and often have to wait alone in a lobby.Community is toxic.

I would guess that 90% of the veteran players ('pros') or abuse noobs in modes like ffa or they flame them out of the game completely. For a new player it's really hard to have success outside of Dojo without being teached.

Btw, KoH is a great mode for new players because they can achieve a win with a bit of luck, while in FFA it's really difficult.Last but not least, the game is not friendly to young players (that's a personal opinion and was never topic in the forums). You need to speak English, the gameplay looks easy but it's really hard to master, if you want to have success you need to handle your mouse comparable fast to games like Starcraft 2 or Dota 2, both games have few players with an age under 16 years. The game is designed for touch screens, appereatly PC players have the box select advantage and top Elim players use PC, but for speed matters Ipad is way better.

On the other hand Galcon is a game where you need to put a lot of time into and most people playing on touch screens want time filler games, infinity stuff and not a game where you can sit 2 hours in a ffa match (happened to me).Yeah, I think that's it, there are more reasons but all in all the playerbase decreased continuously since december (steam release date). The Gal Map 1.0 wasn't a big success, it created a lot of bad atmoshphere, Gal Map 2.0 is better but it doesn't attract players that much.Reasons why Galcon has few players? It's a niche game, and most players who would play it never find out that Galcon exists. Furthermore many new players are chased away at the beginning of their play time.What a monster post.And I didn't realize that YourNemesis = 0(whatever);). Okay as someone with 1600+ hours Let me correct somethings.Galaxy map 1 according to phil was the most succesfulGalcon has almost immediately started dying rapidly since it ended and with each new underwhelming itteration of Galaxymap the playerbase goes with it.With galcon being a game developed by 1 person, if all development goes into something players dont want they will get bored and quit.

Unfortunately for the past 4-5 months phil has focused on Galaxymap and using the above as a guide.its quite easy to see why the remaining playerbase is decreasing.As for galcon as the start when it was released? Not enough content.IF galcon 2 was relaunched now in its current state im sure that would be a different story.But while phil continues to try and fix galaxy map its only a matter of time till he either finds the winning formula or pulls the plug.Saand.
